The Entrepreneur Space’s Third Birthday Party

Argentine alfajores. Chinese-South African prego chicken rolls. Nordic bread. The Entrepreneur Space and its roughly 170 clients have contributed greatly to the local culinary scene over the past 36 months. It’s time to celebrate this milestone while commemorating a major food event in Queens -- the global premiere of the Authentic Belgian Waffle at the 1964 World’s Fair in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park.

MariePaule Vermersch, who came to Queens from Belgium at age 18 to serve these transcendental waffles with her family, will take part in the E-Space birthday festivities, which will feature about 40 clients displaying and selling their products. As part of the fun, Queens Economic Development Corporation Executive Director Seth Bornstein and local elected officials will give speeches before they join Vermersch in piping E-Space-made whipped cream onto three larges waffles…and adding fresh strawberries, of course.
