New Website assists in "local grown" movement
Farm fresh has always been a feature that you figured would be tough to pull off in New York. NY1 news reports of a newly revamped website that aims to make it easier for you to shop locally.
The state-run "Pride of New York" website allows consumers, chefs and business owners to find locally grown produce.
It was recently updated to make it more user-friendly, including information on where to find markets, farms, breweries and wineries.
It also includes a new mapping feature.
Growers and restaurant owners can use it to be a part of "Pride of New York" program.
For more information, call 1-800-554-4501 or visit www.prideofny.com

Local Review Sites- Where should you be seen
Take Yelp for instance, although they are arguably the biggest review site they have some serious strikes against them:
1. They do not allow a Facebook log in, which means you need a separate log in just to post a review and some of your customers might now go through with it just because of the hassle.
2.They have a policy that does not allow businesses to ask for reviews, if you can't ask people for a review, you may get less reviews or even worse get a disproportionate amount of poor reviews since people are more apt to praise than to compliment
3.Yelp puts more emphasis on reviews by their "Elite Squad" a group of people who have had a lot of Yelp reviews, but are they really an expert on your business?
All this is not to say you don't want your business reviewed on Yelp, its just not the only game in town, and if you are steering reviews to one site it may not be helping your SEO results as much as you think.
