Central Astoria LDC Presents : Dirty Dancing in Astoria Park

dirty dancing astoria park

Wait a second, that title is a little misleading. Central Astoria is not presenting you with some kind of muddy dance troupe. It's Dirty Dancing the 1987 movie starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey and it will be shown in Astoria Park on the Great Lawn on Monday August 18th

I don't think anyone knew what this movie would become when it was first released as it was a low budget release and the biggest name in the movie was Jerry Ohrbach and with a plot, best described by Wikipedia:

The story is a coming of age drama that documents a teenage girl's relationship with a dance instructor whom she encounters during her family's summer vacation.

It's a classic and should be enjoyed outdoors with friends

For More information call Central Astoria LDC at 718-728-7820 or visit their website:

Dunnamic Animation Studio Crowdfunding New Cartoon "Chloe and the Stars"

Dunnamic, an animation studio based in Langhorne, Pennsylvania, is proud to announce their first official animated pilot, "Chloe and the Stars," a musical action show set in deep space. Created by studio founder Meaghan Dunn, whose previous work includes 2001's "A Kitty Bobo Show" for Cartoon Network, "Chloe" focuses on the four members of a girl's punk rock band, The Stars, who perform all over the galaxy in the hopes of becoming famous.

Unlike many modern cartoons, "Chloe" will be created using the traditional style of animation. Each element of the show will be hand-drawn by Dunnamic's in-house team of artists, giving the show a polished, television-quality look and feel.

"Animation techniques have come a long way in the last decade. The technological advances can really speed up the production process," says Dunn, "But I still love the look of real, hand-drawn animation. So when I created my show, I knew that was the way I wanted to approach it."
The studio has launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter in support of the project, seeking $35,000 for a full five minute episode. If the funding goal is met, stretch goals for additional episodes will be pursued, up to a total of four episodes.

The Kickstarter can be found here:

About Dunnamic:
Dunnamic was founded in 2009, providing animation and design services to a variety of clients and industries worldwide, including the University of Pennsylvania, FEMA, Keller Williams, Hewlett Packard, Wells Fargo, and Crayola. The studio can be reached at info@dunnamic.com.
