You can catch the games on the big screen outdoors at Metrotech Commons every weekday (except Thursdays, when BAM holds their popular R&B Festival) – a perfect complement to the mostly weekend games being hosted Under the Archway by our friends over at the DUMBO Improvement District.
If a little food and drink to go along with your games is more your speed, check out these hot spots:
- Brooklyn Brewhouse (229 Duffield Street): Keep your eyes peeled to one of this pub’s 12 HDTVs, which will be showing games with full sound. During game times, there’ll be $5 beer all day, as well as regular happy hour specials from 4 to 7pm.
- Dining Room (56 Willoughby Street): Head to the back of this divey restaurant, where they’ll also be showing World Cup games. There aren’t soccer-specific specials, but take advantage of every day deals from 4 to 7pm - $4 drafts and bottled beers, plus $5 wines and well drinks.
- Downtown Ale House (121 Livingston Street): Stop in during a tournament game and a Bud Light will only set you back $3.
- Jose O’Shea’s at the Sheraton (228 Duffield Street): As its name suggests, this is a Mexican-American fusion restaurant, and it will be playing games with sound, in addition to hosting happy hour specials.
- Hill Country Barbecue Market (345 Adams Street): While live music entertains folks upstairs, stake out a spot in front of one of two TVs at Downtown Brooklyn’s newest barbecue paradise, where games will play with the sound on and happy hour specials will keep fans happy ‘til 7pm.
- Junior’s (386 Flatbush Ave): If you happen to find yourself at the home of “New York’s Most Fabulous Cheesecake,” snag a seat in the lounge, where there are two television sets. Don’t see the game? Feel free to request a channel change.
- Misdemeanor at the Nu Hotel (75 Smith Street): This sidewalk bar will be playing World Cup games throughout the week, but likely without the sound. Luckily, it’s happy hour until 7pm.
- O’Keefe’s Bar and Grill (62 Court Street): For over 90 years, this Downtown Brooklyn staple has hosted the cheers and chants of thousands of sports fans. Stop by from 4 to 7pm and score $1 off any drink and settle in for a game on one of the many TV screens.
